Rosacea

Okay, with this post we're officially caught up again. :) Sorry for falling behind but I've been hyper-productive the last few days so we should be okay for awhile.
And my "U" key is sticking! Damnit! It makes typing quickly and accurately very difficult! >:(

I'm at work tonight and it's slow and I just REALLY don't feel like being here. An old client is in town who used to punish me if my legs weren't PERFECTLY smooth, he'd always check. I'm hiding from him because my legs are super hairy! I promise I'm going to amend that as soon as I get home. D: I'm sch a bad girl when it comes to hair removal. Sigh.

Oh yea, my rosacea. It sucks. I mean, most people think it's really cute but MAN I blush at ANYTHING and that gets sorta irritating. And it's weird to look at photos of me and see blinding pale skin topped off by a cherry-red face. SIGH! I COULD try to cover it up with make-up I guess but honestly I don't wear much, if any. If I'm feeling fancy I put on some eyeliner and lipgloss. :)

Anyway, I think I'm rambling cuz I'm bored. Enjoy! We have a Featured Fetish on Saturday! :D

I really love your sense of comic timing you have in these strips. You set the gags up so well. It's so frustrating to have to convince people you're not actually wearing make-up. I've always had naturally red lips and while I was in grade school people were ALWAYS asking if I was wearing lipstick.

Thank you very much! And you sound like your own regular SnowWhite. :) Yea, some people look like they're wearing make-up all the time. The one I always poke fun at is the actor Nestor Carbonell, who looks like he constantly has black eyeliner on. :) (I think it's sexy, though.)

I have rosacea too, but it's gotten better as I got older (I'm 22 now). Still, it's nice to have a little color on my face, since I RARELY wear makeup. :)

I love the comic, and i agree With Vera about your comic timing. Also gotta say my fiancee is the same way about her legs, but even when she says "its terrible" i can't even see the hairs. She always insists that i am either blind or being nice lol

The girls here are the same way, Tom! I mention that my legs are super hairy and a bunch of girls chime in "oh mine too" but I can't see/feel anything. MY legs, on the other hand, look like mans legs. Sharky can attest, it's not all in my head. :) I have DARK and fast growing hair on pale skin.

Rogue<->rouge?
People make that mistake on trade chat on WoW all the time, except the other way around. "LF Rouge that can pick [Khorium Lockbox]"
And then I rage.
Anyway, just pointing it out. I love the comic nonetheless.
I never have to wear blush either, but that's just because I have a natural blush on my face.

Oh, goddamnit... Thanks for catching that!

I have the same problem with red face in photos as you. I am forever toning down the red in my face while trying to maintain it in my hair. Often I just give up and leave it.

I also tend to make my teeth less yellow.

Just found your comic and have been captivated and reading through the archives all night, which is why this comment is coming so much later than your original post. About the rosacea and not wearing makeup much, I've found that using a bit of the powdery mineral makeup that's become popular nowadays can tone down the redness a bit without making you feel like "AGH THERE IS SHIT ON MY FACE GET IT OFF." (Can you tell that I hate makeup? :P) Look for Bare Minerals, Raw Minerals, Bare Escentuals, or something similar. I use Bare Minerals because they have a super-light shade and I am as pasty-white as only geeks with British heritage can be. XD

When i was younger I used to be able to get this really nice subtle tan and sun freckles but one time i spent a little too long inside and ended up pale as a ghost. Since then I can't go out in the sun without burning which sucks.

Also my hair naturally highlights. It was a little more prominent when i was a kid and blonder. A lot of people were like 'Oh do you dye your hair?!' and I was like ...no I'm ten.

I have a similar (ish) thing with my lips. Most of the time, since I was a baby, they have been VERY red. Even my mom sometimes thinks I have lipstick on. I'm VERY pale too which doesn't help. My mom has literally got in arguments with me because she thought I was lying about not wearing lipstick. Like really? Hahaha.

It's nice to see someone (sevwral someones, counting the commenters) who has to deal with the "way too much rouge" look without outright having the blistering sort of rosacea. Despite my utter inability to tan, my upper cheeks vary from deep pink to (rarely, at least) got-socked-in-the-face-purple, so I often have to wear way too much foundation just to keep from looking like I got into mummy's makeup for the first time each day. (It's not rosacea, or at least the tests were inconclusive, and I'm pretty sure the cheek discolouration and the tanning difficulties are related, but it still means this strip is close to my heart).
