Cripple

Yaaaay depressing post! No, it's okay, it makes me laugh so you can laugh, too.
But this IS how I feel lately. Gah.

So, my knee issue is decently serious and isn't going anywhere fast. I tore the ligaments in my knee and I need to have an MRI done to really see how bad it is and if I'll need surgery or not. The trial, here, is that to get care that I'm covered under I have to wait THREE TO FOUR MONTHS just to see a specialist, nevermind the wait time for any procedures...
My other option is to pony up $500 to get an MRI right now. That's cheap compared to most places but alot of money for me. (It's more than my share of the rent!!!!)

I'm currently stuck debating what to do. But what I know is that I can't sit on my butt for another 3-4 months. I just plain can't afford it!!! I'm not earning ANY money like this (except for commissions) and so my savings will only sustain me for another month or two before I'm completely, 100% flat broke. I've already had to use a chunk of it for the last months rent... :(

And speaking of commissions, thank you SO MUCH to everyone who's been working me for art lately. There was a HUGE influx and it's helped me immensely, you have no idea. You're all wonderful. :) PLUS, it's given me something to do while I sit on the couch...

Anyway, that is pretty much all that's going on in my life right now. Since I can't leave the house much there's very little else going on with me other than stewing about my medical issues... We did have one other money-eating nightmare. PrettyBoy totaled my car... So... Thankfully I can't drive right now but it's another expense to worry about. -_- He's okay, mostly. Only minor injuries like some bone displacement in his wrist.

The one good thing going on for me right now (and it's a huge deal) is how much we LOVE our new place to live and our new roommate. He's awesome and we're VERY, very happy here. :) It makes a major difference in both of our outlooks on life etc.

But, I've been chatting too much. I'm going to reopen my commission sale to keep me busy and to try to bring in some money to help me out. I'll do a more major announcement about it soon but if you're reading this feel free to write me about it! :)

I know EXACTLY how awful those full leg braces are and how insane you go sitting around with it on. Almost impossible to sit normally in a chair without your leg going numb, right?
Anyway, I'm part of a pretty big pagan community who doesn't judge and includes some people who have interest in BDSM too. So I'm going to post a link to here on a facebook page and explain your situation and hopefully you'll get some commissions from some of them since I don't have the $ to order anything from you myself!

Have you thought about one of those donation things? Like gofundme.com to raise the $500? If you get 50 people to donate $10 you're there... it gives them a site to do it on AND it can be easily shared with others such as on fetlife. I don't know if you remember, but they raised several thousand dollars on fetlife for a Deaf girl that needed new hearing aids.

Oh I am so sorry I hope this all works out.

Surely you can find someone with like, a cripple fetish that you could do sessions with?

Anon, yaknow, a coworker of mine broke her foot recently and still worked while wearing a cast. She tried to market to the "cripple" fetishists and didn't get any bites but she DID still get alot of work from her regulars! I was surprised and impressed! Unfortunately I can't do enough walking to even make it in there. :( I can't drive, either, ugh.

I hope you get better soon !
Oh god this sounds even more stupid when written, but I really mean it ! I've been reading your comic for quite a long time now, and I've come to really like you (or what we can see of you through your art), and after all you've been through, it is heartbreaking to see that you are this unlucky !

Aw, thanks Anon. :) Don't worry, other than the car accident and knee injury I'm doing pretty good on luck lately. If you rule out those two things life is pretty perfect. It's just hard to look on the bright side, sometimes, when I'm stuck on the couch 24/7. I hate to come off as a complainer, I've got it pretty good but one stupid mistake...

*hugs Nic*

I know it's not much but I hope it helps. If I knew it wouldn't be weird and it would survive the trip I'd send you, pretty, and rommie a lemon cake..after all they are bright and when life gives you lemons after all.

Aw, I would love a lemon cake! It's a shame teleportation hasn't been invented yet...

I know right! You'd think we'd have that and flying cars by now.

Have you ever heard of GASR? It's an art forum. People will pay maybe $5-$10 for a little chibi drawing. It's not a lot but with all the people that desire them it would be really easy to make some more money quickly!

I have an autoimmune disorder and some chronic pain disorders and I have been in and out of the hospital numerous times, one of the things they don't always bring up is there are charity programs you can apply for. I have had huge success with these! All you have to do is ask! I bet you could get the remainder of your balance covered and immediate care.

*huge hugs* I hope you get back on your feet soon, you do deserve better, just sometimes takes awhile to get there.

Have you considered signing up with Access Paratransit? It's a public transit system for the disabled. They run 24/7 wherever buses run. They're far from perfect, but might be just right to fill in the gaps.

Missed you at Club Hentai last night. I got to draw while wearing a corset. It's easier to do sitting at a table.

Get well soon!
