I had to explain to her (thank gawd I have a sense of humor) why it was perhaps not the best card after what happened.

Ah family. Yeah that's really all I can say. O.o. They try so hard to cheer you up and end up just making you face palm sometimes.
In my head, I see you having a "northern" accent (which to most people means no accent). I love that your grandma has a southern accent, it makes me love her lol. All of my family is southern and it makes me happy to see a southerner depicted in a comic (other than Faye)
The gram that actually gave me this card is from Missouri originally, I believe. But she still uses these cute pet-names for everything all the time. I like that she calls peeing "tinkle."

As a Missourian, what little you've posted of your grandmother's speech sounds perfectly common to me. As someone who was practically born with the soul of an elderly woman, it was hilarious to see this after dozens of strips of being careful to hold back the condescending-sounding "darlin'"s and "hon"s XD
